Welcome to Veil, the creative communication platform operated by V31L LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number 16890413). Veil combines private messaging, community spaces, creative tools, and an optional AI companion, with end-to-end encryption built in as infrastructure.
When Veil shows you these Terms and you select the acceptance control, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, you may not create or continue using a Veil account.
Age Requirement: Veil is for people aged 16 and over. We use your date of birth only to check whether you meet the relevant age boundary, then discard the exact date. We keep only your age group (16–17 or 18+), when the check was made, and any adult declaration needed for paid membership. If the date entered makes you ineligible, you cannot continue. If you made a mistake or need help with an existing account, contact legal@v31l.chat.
Paid Membership Age: Plus and Pro memberships, including Aurora features reserved for paid members, are available only to adults aged 18 and over. Before checkout you must confirm that you are an adult. A payment card or Bitcoin transaction is not proof of identity or age. Veil does not currently ask for identity documents or biometric age checks.
One Account Per Person: You may only maintain one active account on Veil.
Free and Paid Tiers: Veil offers Lite and paid Plus/Pro memberships. Eligible adults may receive one 30-day, card-required Stripe Plus trial which becomes paid unless cancelled. Bitcoin purchases are prepaid 6- or 12-month terms with no trial and no automatic renewal. Prices, renewal timing and cancellation information are shown before purchase and in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Veil is designed to admit 16- and 17-year-old residents with higher-privacy and safety defaults. Their accounts initially accept direct messages only from contacts. Lite Aurora is the age-appropriate surface for this group: it has no companion memory and must not use romantic or sexual framing, claim a relationship, or claim to remember the resident. Reports, blocking, complaints and safety escalation remain available. Paid memberships and their reserved Aurora features remain 18+.
You may report suspected illegal content, child-safety concerns or a breach of these Terms using Veil's in-product reporting route or by contacting legal@v31l.chat. You may also complain about a reporting or enforcement decision and request review. We use proportionate systems and processes to assess reports, minimise the time illegal content remains where we can act, and preserve appropriate appeal and legal records.
Your Superkey is Your Responsibility
During registration, Veil generates a 12-word Superkey (recovery phrase) on your device. It is the only way to recover your encrypted message history and can also help you:

Illegal and Prohibited Content:
Veil must not be used to commit or facilitate an offence, or to create, store, view, share, or distribute unlawful content. We also prohibit the following content and conduct as a platform rule, whether or not every example is unlawful in every circumstance:
Pornographic Media:
Veil does not allow pornographic images, video, or audio anywhere on the current service, including public, private, request-to-join, or invite-only Hubs. For this rule, pornographic media means audio, visual, or audiovisual content produced solely or principally for sexual arousal. Written or text-only material is not treated as pornographic media solely under this rule, although every other safety, legality, consent, harassment, and Hub rule still applies. Artistic, documentary, educational, or medical material is not automatically pornographic and is assessed in context.
Residents and Hub hosts must not upload, generate, display, distribute, or facilitate access to pornographic media through Veil. When credible reported or otherwise lawfully available information identifies prohibited media, Veil may remove or restrict the content or Hub and take action against the responsible accounts. A private or invitation-only setting does not override this rule.
Because private communications are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot proactively scan or monitor their content. We rely on resident reports for visibility into those communications. When we receive a credible report of illegal content, particularly child sexual abuse or exploitation or a credible threat of violence, we may:
Law Enforcement Cooperation:
Whilst we cannot decrypt general message content (we do not hold the encryption keys), we may cooperate with law enforcement when legally required or when necessary to prevent serious harm. Depending on what Veil lawfully holds and what the request covers, information may include:

We cannot and will not provide encrypted message content, as we do not possess the means to decrypt it.
Consequences: Serious violations, particularly those involving child sexual abuse or exploitation or a credible threat to life, may result in immediate restriction or account termination. Where Veil detects CSEA content that must be reported, we report it to the National Crime Agency in accordance with the law. We may also report material to the Internet Watch Foundation, emergency services, law enforcement, or another relevant body where required or lawfully appropriate. Any refund or consumer remedy remains governed by applicable law and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

What are Hubs?
Hubs are community spaces within Veil. Hub owners and administrators create and manage these spaces, subject to these Terms. A Hub may include features such as chat channels, posts, galleries, event scheduling, news feeds, custom branding, and other modules made available by Veil from time to time.

Hub Owners' Liability:
Hub owners and administrators may be held accountable for persistent or serious violations occurring within their Hubs, particularly if they fail to moderate or are knowingly facilitating prohibited conduct. Consequences may include:
Hub Visibility and Veil's Role:
Hubs can be private, request-to-join, open, or publicly discoverable, depending on the Hub's settings and the feature being used. Hub profiles, pages, events, posts, galleries, host information and other material marked public may be visible to residents who are not members and may appear in Veil discovery. Private or encrypted Hub areas remain limited to their intended audience. Veil provides and operates the Hubs service, applies these Terms, responds to reports and legal duties, and provides owners and administrators with moderation tools. Owners and administrators remain responsible for the rules and day-to-day moderation of the communities they operate.
Your Content: You retain any rights you hold in content you create and share on Veil. You grant V31L LTD a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display and otherwise process that content only as needed to operate the features you choose, show it to the audience you select, keep Veil secure, and comply with law. This licence ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except for limited copies we must lawfully retain. End-to-end encrypted content remains inaccessible to us except when a resident deliberately submits a report as described above.
Our Content: The Veil platform, including its design, code, branding, and features, is owned by V31L LTD and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of Veil without our written permission.
Community Guidelines: Hubs may establish additional community guidelines. By joining a Hub, you agree to follow its rules in addition to these Terms.
By You: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if:
Effect of Termination: Upon termination:
Where it is reasonable and safe to do so, we will explain the reason and provide a way to challenge the decision. We may act without advance notice where urgent action is needed for safety, security, legal compliance, or to prevent serious abuse.
Service Standard: We provide Veil with reasonable care and skill. Because software and network services can experience faults, maintenance and interruptions, we do not promise that every feature will always be available or error-free.
Liability: Nothing in these Terms removes the rights or remedies you have as a consumer. Where the law allows us to limit liability, V31L LTD is not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, or for business loss arising from a consumer's personal use of Veil. Subject to those protections, examples may include:
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: supplying digital content or services without the care, quality or remedies required by consumer law; death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; breach of data-protection duties where liability cannot lawfully be excluded; or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
You are responsible for losses you directly cause through unlawful use of Veil or a deliberate material breach of these Terms. This section does not create a blanket indemnity, make a consumer responsible for matters outside their control, or reduce any statutory right or remedy.
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, safety or service changes. We will identify the version and date. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, Veil will show the change and require acceptance before continued non-essential use. Minor corrections or clarifications that do not materially affect rights may be published without re-acceptance.
Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Dispute Resolution: We invite you to contact legal@v31l.chat first so we can try to resolve a dispute, but doing so does not remove or delay a right to seek a remedy or contact a regulator.
Jurisdiction: If you are a consumer, you may rely on mandatory protections of the law that applies where you live and may bring proceedings in any UK court that has jurisdiction over your consumer claim. In other cases, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, the Refund & Cancellation Policy, and any Aurora Terms that apply to you form the agreement between you and V31L LTD for the relevant services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data; it is not a contract and does not limit your data-protection rights.
