Welcome to Veil, a private, invitation-only, end-to-end encrypted messaging platform operated by V31L LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number 16890413).

By accessing or using Veil, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use Veil.

1. Definitions

• "Veil" refers to the VeilReborn messaging platform and all related services
• "We," "Us," "Our" refers to V31L LTD
• "You," "User" refers to any individual who accesses or uses Veil
• "Superkey" refers to your 12-word recovery phrase generated during account creation
• "Veil Code" refers to the invitation codes required for registration
• "E2EE" refers to end-to-end encryption
• "Hub" refers to private community spaces within Veil

2. Account Eligibility

Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use Veil. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

Invitation Requirement: Veil is an invitation-only platform. You must possess a valid Veil Code to register. Veil Codes are distributed person-to-person by existing users.

One Account Per Person: You may only maintain one active account on Veil.

3. Veil Code Distribution Responsibility

When you share a Veil Code with another person, you are vouching for their character. You acknowledge that:

• You are responsible for the individuals you invite to Veil
• You should only share Veil Codes with people you trust and believe will respect the platform and its community
• Veil Codes are for personal distribution only and must not be sold, auctioned, or distributed publicly
• We reserve the right to revoke Veil Codes or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, including violations by users you have invited

4. Account Security and Superkey Responsibility

Your Superkey is Your Responsibility

During registration, Veil generates a 12-word Superkey (recovery phrase) on your device. This is the only method to:

• Recover your account on a new device
• Reset your password if forgotten
• Decrypt your message history

Critical Understanding:

• Your Superkey is generated locally and never transmitted to our servers
• We do not have access to your Superkey and cannot recover it for you
• If you lose your Superkey and cannot access your account, your encrypted messages are permanently unrecoverable
• This is by design - true privacy means no backdoors

You are solely responsible for:

• Securely storing your Superkey (we recommend multiple secure backups)
• Keeping your Superkey confidential
• The consequences of losing or sharing your Superkey

Optional Email: You may add an email address for account recovery purposes. Email allows password reset but does not recover encrypted messages - only your Superkey can do that.

5. End-to-End Encryption

Veil uses end-to-end encryption for all private communications. This means:

What We Cannot Access:

• Message content (direct messages and group chats)
• Media files you share (images, voice messages)
• Voice call content

What We Can Access:

• Account metadata (username, timestamps)
• Message metadata (sender/recipient IDs, timestamps, delivery status)
• Your public encryption key (required for others to send you encrypted messages)

Limitation of Liability for E2EE:

Because your messages are end-to-end encrypted:

• We cannot recover messages if you lose your Superkey
• We cannot provide copies of your messages to you or any third party
• We cannot decrypt messages pursuant to legal process (we do not possess the decryption keys)

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use Veil to:

Illegal Activities:

• Engage in any activity that violates applicable laws of England and Wales or your local jurisdiction
• Distribute illegal content or facilitate illegal transactions
• Engage in fraud, money laundering, or terrorist financing

Harmful Behaviour:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Share content depicting child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAM)
• Distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful software
• Attempt to compromise the security of other users' accounts

Platform Abuse:

• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of Veil
• Create automated accounts or use bots without authorisation
• Sell, transfer, or share your account with others
• Impersonate Veil staff or other users

7. Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain ownership of content you create and share on Veil. By using Veil, you grant us a limited licence to transmit your encrypted content to intended recipients.

Our Content: The Veil platform, including its design, code, branding, and features, is owned by V31L LTD and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of Veil without our written permission.

Community Guidelines: Hubs may establish additional community guidelines. By joining a Hub, you agree to follow its rules in addition to these Terms.

8. Account Termination

By You: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms
• We reasonably believe you have engaged in prohibited conduct
• Required by law
• Necessary to protect the platform or other users

Effect of Termination: Upon termination:

• Your access to Veil will end immediately
• Your encrypted messages will remain encrypted (we cannot access them)
• Account data subject to our Privacy Policy retention schedules

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

"As Is" Service: Veil is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, V31L LTD shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of data, revenue, or profits
• Inability to access or recover encrypted content
• Actions of other users
• Service interruptions or technical failures

Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for: Death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless V31L LTD, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Veil or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through Veil or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of Veil after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Dispute Resolution: Before initiating formal legal proceedings, you agree to attempt to resolve any dispute with us through good faith negotiation by contacting admin@v31l.chat.

Jurisdiction: Any legal proceedings arising from these Terms or your use of Veil shall be brought exclusively in the courts of England and Wales. You consent to the jurisdiction of such courts.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and V31L LTD regarding your use of Veil.
